Who
Cures-Not-Wars is a national organization dedicated to ending what it considers public enemy #1, the War on Drugs. Click 'CNW Mission' to your left or read their Mission Statement directly from their site by clicking Here.
What
DetroitLiberation.org (this site) was developed by several Michigan activist organizers of the CNW worldwide event called "Liberation Day" to promote the 2007 event on May 3 in Downtown Detroit, which had a great turnout, an incredible band and John Sinclair.
The 2008 event promises to be even bigger, with great featured guests (see below) and the cooperation of multiple organizations.
Where
Grand
Circus Park in Downtown Detroit is a beatiful, tree-filled
5 acre park, setting for many events, rallys, and peacefull
office lunches. The two major fountains are lined with
benches, and the large public spaces make for great public
showcases. For the Wikipedia article, Click
Here. Other locations in the region will also me holding
events. See below.

When
This year's event falls on Saturday, May3. Times will be from High Noon to about 7pm.
Why
To promote
1) the liberalization of ibogaine, a plant drug useful for treating heroin addiction. With a low recidivism rate, we ask why the FDA is blocking Phase II and III clinical trials.
2) the liberalization of hemp, a plant useful for fuel, fibre and paper, and to allow the industrial uses of this plant as so many other nations have done. This would assist with environmental issues, including global warming.
3) the liberalization of cannabis, the recreational and medical component of hemp, otherwise known as L. Cannabis Sativa, L. Cannabis Indica, and other minor varietals.
